Whom Shall I Fear?

Just completed a scriptural allusion study on the modern worship song, Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies) by Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash and Scott Cash.  This song is full of scripture allusion from beginning to end.  The authority of God's Word present in the songs of the church has been and continues to be vital for expressing meaningful worship. Scriptural Allusion Study
Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)
- Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash and Scott Cash

You hear me when I call
(Psalm 4:3) But know that the Lord has [a]set apart the godly man for Himself;
The Lord hears when I call to Him.

(Psalm 34:17) The righteous cry, and the Lord hears And delivers them out of all their troubles.

(Psalm 55:16-17) As for me, I shall call upon God,
And the Lord will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur,
And He will hear my voice.

(Isaiah 65:24) It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

(I John 5:14-15) This is the confidence which we have [a]before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
You are my morning song (Exodus 15:2) “[a]The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
This is my God, and I will praise Him;
My father’s God, and I will extol Him.

(Psalm 59:16) But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength;
Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For You have been my stronghold
And a refuge in the day of my distress.
Though darkness fills the night (John 1:3-5) All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.
It cannot hide the light (Micah 7:8) Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy.
Though I fall I will rise;
Though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a light for me.

(Psalm 18:28) For You light my lamp;
The Lord my God illumines my darkness.

(Psalm 139:12) Even the darkness is not dark [a]to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You.

(John 8:12) Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
Whom shall I fear (Psalm 27:1) The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the [a]defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread?
You crush the enemy
Underneath my feet
(Romans 16:20) And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
You are my sword and shield (Ephesians 6:16)  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

(2 Samuel 22:3) The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge;
My Savior, You save me from violence.

(Psalm 28:7) The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.

(Psalm 3:3) But You, O Lord, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
Though troubles linger still (John 16:33) These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
I know who goes before me (Duet. 31:8) The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
I know who stands behind (Isaiah 52:12) But you will not go out in haste,
Nor will you go [a]as fugitives;
For the Lord will go before you,
And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
The God of angel armies (Psalm 34:7) The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

(Joshua 5:14) He said, “No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the Lord.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, “What has my lord to say to his servant?”

This is not the host of heaven, the stars and moon. This host is God's mighty army of spirit beings or angels. Specifically, though, the LORD, Jehovah, of Hosts is God's title in relationship to His people Israel as I Samuel 17:45 shows:
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. (http://www.logoslive.net/19._Jehovah_of_Hosts.htm)

God of angel armies has also been translated as Lord of Hosts

(1 Samuel 15:1-2) Then Samuel said to Saul, “The Lord sent me to anoint you as king over His people, over Israel; now therefore, listen to the [a]words of the Lord. 2 Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘I will [b]punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt.
Is always by my side (Deuteronomy 31:6) Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”
The one who reigns forever (Psalm 146:10) The Lord will reign forever,
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
[a]Praise [b]the Lord!
He is a friend of mine (James 2:23) and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.

(John 15:14-15) You are My friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
My strength is in Your name (Prov. 18:10) The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is [a]safe.
For You alone can save (Isaiah 43:11) “I, even I, am the Lord,
And there is no savior besides Me.
You will deliver me (Psalm 37:40) The Lord helps them and delivers them;
He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
Because they take refuge in Him.
Yours is the victory (I Corinthians 15:57) but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
And nothing formed against me shall stand (Isaiah 54:17) “No weapon that is formed against you will prosper;
And every tongue that [a]accuses you in judgment you will condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.
You hold the whole world in Your hands (Psalm 95:4) In whose hand are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
I'm holding on to Your promises (I Corinthians 15:58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
You are faithful (I Corinthians 1:9) God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
